Renault’s focus on making electric vehicles accessible, usable and desirable has been officially recognised, after the Renault 4 E-Tech electric, Renault 5 E-Tech electric and Renault Master E-Tech collected a string of honours at the Auto Express New Car Awards 2025.
Among the most prestigious accolades in the industry, the New Car Awards reflect the models that Auto Express experts are most happy to recommend to new car buyers, whatever their needs. Assessed across 30 categories, the judges consider the things that matter most to consumers, from practicality and efficiency to price, reliability and the driving experience.
“Resurgent Renault has had a successful year at the Auto Express New Car Awards, with the new retro-styled 4 and 5 models both picking up well-deserved wins for their character, charm and keen pricing,” said Auto Express Editor Paul Barker. “While at the other end of the scale, the excellent Master proved its pedigree by winning both the electric van and large van awards. Renault is back on form across the board.”
Collecting the quartet of awards, Adam Wood, Managing Director, Renault UK, said: “These awards epitomise the strength of the Renault E-Tech and LCV ranges. From launch, Renault 5 and Master set new benchmarks in their categories and now, just a day after Renault 4 orders open for R Pass customers, R4 is officially recognised as the very best small SUV available.”
The Renault 4 E-Tech electric was crowned ‘Small SUV of the Year’ against stiff opposition in one of the industry’s most competitive categories. Priced from £26,995 OTR and available to order now for R4 R Pass customers, the Renault 4 E-Tech electric reinvents the iconic original while retaining its trademark practicality and versatility. Impressive interior space, exceptional 420-litre boot capacity, and a driving range of up to 247 miles are just some of its most appealing highlights.
Joining it in the winner’s circle was the Renault 5 E-Tech electric after it claimed the ‘Affordable Electric Car of the Year’ title, a category in which the Renault 4 E-Tech electric was also Highly Commended. Referencing the style of the original model, Renault 5 E-Tech electric is also the epitome of modernity, with agile handling and innovative technology that delivers a driving range of up to 252 miles on a single charge.
Available from £22,995 OTR, the Renault 5 E-Tech electric is fun to drive and fun to be around, with its heart-winning design and vibrant range of body colours. As well as its ‘Affordable Electric Car of the Year’ award, the Renault 5 E-Tech electric was also Highly Commended in the ‘Supermini of the Year’ category.
Proving that Renault supports its customers both at work and at play, the Renault Master was awarded not one but two important accolades, after the Auto Express judges named it both ‘Large Van of the Year’ and ‘Electric Van of the Year’.
Designed to go further, carry more and cost less, the Renault Master is available in a range of versions spanning load spaces of 11 to 20 cubic metres, with an extra-wide opening at the sliding side door and a longer load capacity than ever before. The all-electric Master E-Tech offers a class-leading range of up to 285 miles and is priced from £37,500 after the plug-in van grant.
The Renault Kangoo – a long-running favourite of small businesses everywhere – was Highly Commended in the ‘Small Van’ category. Available in a choice of petrol, diesel or 100% electric powertrains, plus short-, long-wheelbase and crew van formats, Kangoo continues to offer hard-working businesses the practicality and versatility they need to get jobs done.
