Dacia is responding to customer demand with new versions of its Duster and Bigster SUVs.

It is now making four-wheel drive versions available with automatic transmission. The latest models, due to be launched by autumn, feature a new hybrid 150 4x4 powertrain with a petrol engine driving the front wheels and an electric motor the rear ones. The new generation 48-volt mild hybrid system features a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and electric vehicle driving capability. The three-cylinder engine delivers maximum power of 150hp and 230Nm of torque. The small, rear-mounted electric motor gives an extra 87Nm of torque and drives the rear wheels via a two-speed gearbox. First gear delivers lots of low-speed torque for off-road driving while second gear can drive the rear wheels at motorway speeds. The responsive six-speed dual-clutch gearbox shifts automatically but has steering wheel paddles for manual shifting when drivers want more control.

Mitchells dealer principal Matt Huke-Jenner said: “There is a market for these new Duster and Bigster 4x4 models. We get a lot of inquiries from customers looking for a four-wheel-drive automatic. Now Dacia has listened to what customers want.”

Dacia’s rugged, robust SUVs’ versatility is boosted by the new powertrain combining electrified efficiency, all-wheel drive traction for added confidence and automatic convenience whether on the school run and commuting, muddy tracks and winter roads.
