With a whopping 21 million Brits set to embark on a roadside adventure this May Day Bank Holiday, over a third (37 per cent) shared that not being able to find a parking space is one of their biggest “parking perils”, according to new research from car brand, Dacia.

The research also delved into Brits’ parking behaviours, with nearly half (51 per cent) even admitting that they turn into “vehicle vultures” when trying to find a space, with over one in ten (11 per cent) even confessing to pinching a spot from another driver patiently waiting nearby.

What’s more, it was revealed that on average, Brits will spend 2 months of their lives being ‘vehicle vultures’, either queuing or circling car parks looking for space4.

To help Brits combat their parking and travel woes, Dacia will be offering £10,000 worth of parking between Friday 3 May – Monday 6 May for the Bank Holiday weekend, in a bid to boost adventure and help Brits get out and explore.

The move, in collaboration with parking app JustPark, also brings peace of mind in finding and pre-booking a parking space in advance, allowing the nation to book their next trip stress-free.

Brits’ other biggest parking-related woes include playing an annoying game of ‘musical chairs’ when queuing for a parking space (22 per cent), misunderstanding the parking rules and subsequently being fined (15 per cent) and getting into petty disagreements with other drivers (10 per cent).

One in ten (9 per cent) of Brits even revealed that this will be their only adventure of the year, with 43 per cent sharing they have anxiety when it comes to cost on a Bank Holiday, rising to just over half (51 per cent) for those with families, with Brits now spending on average £11 on parking per week, or £572 a year.
